At last, at last, at last! Julia, Lady Fieldhurst, makes up her mind about John Pickett!
A
rash of robberies have plagued London’s Drury Theater, and the Bow Street
Runners, including John Pickett, are on hand at the latest performance in an
attempt to apprehend the criminal.
But
the theater catches fire, the jewels used as bait are stolen, and John, after rescuing Julia, is
struck down, leaving Julia to care for him as well as solve the mystery.
This
is Julia’s story. She finally comes into her own, tossing aside all the flimsy societal
barriers to her and John’s future. Seeing her stand up to the hypocritical,
pompous fool of her husband’s brother, the new baron, as well as her former
mother-in-law is a real treat. And then there is the mystery, which threatens
the happy ending we’re all rooting for.
Even
unconscious most of the time, John is still the kind of hero I love. His adoration
of Julia shows through during the few times he wakes from his coma, as he’s
more concerned about her than about himself.
The
final scene, where we find out who the villain really is, is a cliffhanger,
with Julia and John at the evildoer’s mercy, and John willing to do anything to
protect her.
Treat
yourself and read this book. And even, better, Ms. South says there’s more to
come!
Thank you all,
Linda
