I think it's amazing how an artist can take the description of the book and make a cover.

Thanks, Adelle. I never thought about name size, either. I agree, I think the name size, like everything else, depends on the composition of the cover.

Hi Diane, having a large name on a book can't be a bad thing. People will know who wrote the book!

LK, I think you hit it on the head. Size does matter, and cover composition isn't the only factor. If your name will sell a book, your name will be the largest thing on the cover.Linda Banchehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18143074276306710646noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7305640310502393746.post-60110156366349532642011-10-11T09:54:57.584-04:002011-10-11T09:54:57.584-04:00Funny, I was just skimming book covers on a bookst...Funny, I was just skimming book covers on a bookstore site yesterday and noticing that the covers which had the author names bigger than the title are those names I recognized, while on the covers with the author name smaller than the title, I didn't recognize the author. Big pubs absolutely use size as a function.LK Hunsakerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10706929624587891992noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7305640310502393746.post-25297879154423081362011-10-11T09:18:19.440-04:002011-10-11T09:18:19.440-04:00Great covers, Linda!

I actually have thought at times my name is too large but then it's the same size as the titles. I like most of my covers. Cover artists are amazing and I wish I had their creativity!Diane Craverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09543155150824715253noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7305640310502393746.post-45254911251240298582011-10-11T08:26:22.461-04:002011-10-11T08:26:22.461-04:00I think the size of the author's name is based...I think the size of the author's name is based on symmetry between graphics and word matter. Of course I had to go back and look at all of my covers. For mine, it seems my name has carried the same font and placement for the most part. I didn't have the same cover artist for all of them, so is it a coincidence or not? I never thought of it until now.
